Massage Therapy

Robert has an inclusive approach to health. He looks at the individual as a complete being. Utilizing all his training to help restore homeostasis (balance to the whole body on all levels) each treatment may be very different from the last. He excels at helping the people that fall between the cracks in the medical system and figuring out the puzzle that is preventing that person from regaining their health. His training allows him to see and feel a person’s body to help locate the areas that are requiring attention. Interestingly this isn’t always where the pain is located. Areas that will looked at include all the joints in the body. This includes the spine, pelvis, ribs, upper and lower extremities and the joints between the bones in the head (yes there is motion there too). He looks deeper into the body and is able to assess and treat the organs of the body, called visceral massage. Of course being a massage therapist he will remember the muscles, tendons, ligaments and connective tissue or fascia. Often home care is needed. This will be assigned on an individual basis. Some of the home care exercises given include Muscle Balance and Functional Development exercises (MBF). Many people will recognize these in the form of the “Pete Egoscue Method” of exercise. Robert graduated from WCCMT in 1992. Since that time he has achieved a high level of skill in various aspects of his profession to the point that he teaches other practitioners in the health care world. He teaches and mentors therapist wanting to learn Advanced Cranial Therapy. He is an instructor at the Vancouver College of Massage Therapy teaching a week long course to introduce students to cranial sacral therapy. He helps teach Muscle Energy Technique (NMT) with Ann Sleeper, RMT as well as her Introduction to Osteopathic courses when he is available. He has been an international teaching assistant for neuromuscular therapy (NMT) and is certified with the St John Institute in the USA as a certified NMT Therapist. He has also sat on the Massage Therapist’s licencing body and was appointed to the Medical Services Commission’s Special Committee for Massage Therapy.
